Choir Member Job Description
Responsibility
1. To sing in the choir part, solos, as assigned by the director
2. To improve in solo singing, diction and choral singing skills
3. To sing in tune and in perfect rhythm
4. To be present in all rehearsals as scheduled except providentially hindered. (note absentee policies.)
5. To reframe from criticizing/teaching others during rehearsals
6. To refrain from singing louder so to lead other less competent singers
7. To arrive at rehearsals on time and be fully prepared. (note policy, parts learned from CD training tracks, available, if needed)
8. To refrain from talking while in practice sessions
9. To pay full attention to the choir director at all times
10. To sing to maintain choral balance, even tone, and to hear all parts as a whole at all times.
11. When absent, to select from the list of choir members a better or at least equivalent substitute and notify part leader ASAP
12. To contribute the yearly membership fee of $100 to the Treasurer of Herald Chorale. (A quarterly budget review/report will be issued to all members by the Treasurer)
13. To recruit singers for Herald Chorale.

Accountability
1. To the part leader and ultimately to the Choir director for the quality of choral presentation listed in the Responsibility section of this Job Description
2. For any assigned students or choir members for helping in improving their performance skills.
Authority
a. With consent of the choir director
1. Any public announcement or distribution of information on events unrelated to the events of Herald Chorale
b. With counsel of the choir director
1. Any program or personnel suggestions (note #4 in policy section below)
Policy
1. Choir members must arrive at the rehearsal 15 minutes ahead and sit in the assigned seats fully prepared to perform.
2. Public announcements of events must be submitted to the choir director at least 7 days in advance.
3. Any suggestions are welcome, but only to the director, however, when the suggestion is approved by the director or the person to whom suggestion is directed to, the person who gives the suggestions will be assigned to lead or help, at the discretion of the person responsible in accomplishing them.
4. 25% absence or above disqualifies singer from any
performance.
5. The choir director has the right to select, place singers in their positions for maintaining choral balance, and vocal style.

6. Members can put themselves in a reserve singer's list
if they cannot attend more than 75% of rehearsals and will be given sheet music
and training materials for preparing themselves to substitute for singers who
had to be absent in any rehearsal.
7. Reserve singers will not perform at scheduled
performances unless requested by the Choir director.
